1775 East Ave.
We’re thrilled that God has moved our church family to merge with the former Solid Rock congregation and bring new life into this beautiful and historic building. Read on for some brief history, hopes, and ways you can help.
“The Lord is faithful in all his words and kind in all his works.” Psalm 145:13
1912
The beautiful, gothic-style church was built from 1912-1915, becoming the new home for the former Brighton Presbyterian Church. For many years, this church family faithfully proclaimed the gospel of Jesus to the Rochester community.
1954
With steady growth, the church built and commissioned a new, 3-story educational wing in 1954 for various classrooms and offices. Today, this wing hosts Rochester Classical Academy.
2026
In 2026, the congregation (by then named as Solid Rock Church) began conversations with Beacon Hill Church about merging and worshipping in their church building. We look forward to November 8, 2026, as our two church families become one and this building once again becomes a base for multiplying gospel-impact everywhere.
OUR PRAYER
Rochester is a place of significant beauty and significant gospel-need. Yet we long for this building to continue to be a place that embodies the true healing that the gospel of Jesus brings. To be a haven of safety and rest from the hurting and hustle of the city, as Jesus promises.
“Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.” -Matthew 11:28
Specifically, we see this building as representing 4 significant things for us:
A home for our church.
Beacon Hill Church has been a mobile church for the entirety of its 10 year existence. But now, the Lord has provided for us this beautiful, storied building that has a proven history of gospel-impact. This means that our church family will no longer be mobile, but permanent and visible in the Rochester community. Where consistent ministry can take place: bible studies, classes, small groups, outreaches, prayer nights, and more.
A training ground for ministry.
The space provides ample opportunities for discipleship and leadership development, so that we might play our part in launching faithful, Jesus-loving men and women into our neighborhoods and the nations. From hosting Rochester Classical Academy and Missio Dei Northeast, to opportunities for workshops, trainings, and conferences, we intend to use this building for the sake of multiplying gospel-impact everywhere.
A hub of renewal for the city.
It’s in our name. We love how the building is almost situated as a beacon on a hill, standing above the busy 490 as countless cars pass by it daily. All around it, in the midst of the hurting stories and the relentless hustle of the city, there the church stands as a kind of visible reminder of the healing peace and calm that the gospel brings. So through our church presence, but also in utilizing the space as God allows, we hope to be a hub of gospel-renewal for the people of Rochester and beyond.
A legacy of gospel-witness.
We understand that we are stepping into a storied building with decades of faithful gospel-witness in the Rochester area. And we pray for nothing but continued witness in the decades to come. In fact, we pray that 100 years from now, the fruit of gospel-ministry within these walls would spell out into countless generations to come. All for the glory of God, the joy of his people, and the good of this city.
HELP US MULTIPLY GOSPEL-IMPACT EVERYWHERE.
In order to help us step into this building with financial healthiness, and to have the necessary funds to bring our four-fold vision to light, we are seeking to raise $100,000 by the end of 2026. Money raised will help fund building maintenance, upkeep, and needed repairs and renovations.
